Bruins Playoff Bound

2011-07-02
The Boston Bruins have clinched a playoff berth.  After a tumultuous year with inconsistent play, enough chemistry has been found for Boston to earn a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins currently sit in 8th spot with 5 games still to be played. For now the playoff picture in terms of first round matchup’s remains murky but the Bruins should have a better idea of who their first round matchup will be against in the coming days.
With his first at the helm, GM Valente is satisfied with the direction he has taken the team. “When I first took hold of the GM position I was forward thinking, not one or two years out beyond that, I want to build dynasty.”
It’s hard enough to win one cup in this league let alone several but GM Valente has put some great pieces together. He has shipped out most of the veterans who were on the tail end of their career and brought in much younger and promising players. Building around Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane he has brought in All-Star defensemen Shea Weber to be a rock on the blue line for several years to come. He has restocked the prospect pool and has acquired seven first round draft picks in this year’s draft.  To make the playoffs this year will be great development for those young players who have been acquired and worked their way up through the system.

The Bruins will be going into the MRFHL playoffs as underdogs but that doesn’t seem to bother GM Valente , “I think we are going make some noise in this year’s playoffs and surprise a lot of people”  This should be a very exciting playoffs for the MRFHL
