Ian waits for the Cole 2010-12-15 NOTE: THIS STORY IS REPRINTED FROM YESTERDAY'S LATE EDITION (AP) Ian Cole is playing his college hockey this season with Notre Dame, where he is leading the Fighting Irish in shots blocked and power play assists. But his heart yearns for being signed to a pro contract so he can begin the process of being called up to the team that owns his professional rights, the Ottawa Senators. "I won't even need an agent. I trust that Mr. (Gary) Brown, the owner and team general manager, will do what is right for me," Cole told this reporter after yesterday's practice. When Brown was contacted for a comment, he said "Ian is in a group of hand picked defensemen draft prospects we have--Simon Despres, Stefan Elliott, Charles-Olivier Roussel in the Q, along with this kid (Travis) Hamonic. I know we will be signing Ian Cole at the end of the season and putting him through the process of making the big club, like shoveling snow in lovely Binghamton. He will have to earn his way but we believe Ian Cole has the right stuff. That kid has guts and that's what we're looking for in our organization."
