New GM in Montreal

2010-08-11

The Montreal Canadiens have hired a new GM, Roberto Martucci, to take on the team. Roberto had this to say:

"I am extremely happy to take over such a team. I have always been a huge Habs fan, and to get the opportunity to be the GM of the Habs is a dream come true. The team is not bad, but still needs some fixing. My main concern with the team right now is free agency. I am going to be looking around the market trying to get players signed. Once I am satisfied with my signings, then the trading will commence. I am going to see how my team looks once I bring in(Or hope to) free agents. Once I have a good view of what my team looks like and the direction I want to go in, that is when I will start filling the missing pieces to the puzzle."

As it currently stands, everyone could be available for trade, however, it has been heard that Bobby Ryan, Carey Price and Joe Pavelski will be the core of this team, and trying to acquire them won't be easy.

"I am always up for chatting with other GMs" said GM Martucci, "I never list any players as "UNTOUCHABLE" because then you don't even get an offer. I like to see all possible options. This way, by making everyone available, obviously some harder then others, I get to see what is out there. I get to consider all possible options before doing anything. Without a doubt there is lots of work to be done with the team if I want to make them a contender, but I am up to the challenge and I think I have good players to work around. I'll be hoping to hearing from my fellow GMs."
