Bure-ing the Competition 2014-07-20 Just an hour before the 2014 version of the MRFHL draft, the Panthers made waves amongst the hockey community naming Pavel and Valeri Bure as the team’s new international scouts. The news comes as a shock, with outlets scrambling to change their mock drafts before realising that the Panthers are not in the 1st round and obviously don’t care. “Both the Bure brothers have been working for us for the last few months and we thought this would be the perfect time to make an announcement,” remarked an obviously tired Dylan Wilson, “Both will give us a new voice at the table and allow us to venture in to areas around the world that we haven’t ventured before. Maybe this year we won’t be as predictable in picking all North American players, but this doesn’t mean we are strictly going European here.” The brothers, both now in their 40s, had only played a combined 7 seasons in Florida, though both can’t wait to return to the sunshine state. “It’s a great team and good fans and we can’t wait to get started,” said an excited Pavel Bure, “I had great success here and both me and my brother are excited about the opportunity.” “I think this is a great chance to get back in to hockey, and hopefully it’s as successful as my time on Battle of the Blades (Valeri won the second season). We won’t be too pushy on who to pick and this is really our first go around, but we’ll add our voice and learn from it,” said Valeri Bure, “This is all a cool learning experience and it should be fun. I think we can at least push one Russian on Dylan.” “Right now they’ve only been added to the scouting department, but we’ll try our best to get these guys involved in to other parts of the organization. It’s going to be a lot of fun.” The Panthers are set to make their first pick at 38.
