Well, that was quick

Today the Rangers announced to the league that the "rebuild" is over as they trade away prospects Huberdeau and Bjugstad in a deal that sees New York acquire defenceman Marc Staal, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury and winger Max Pacioretty.

"Some of the moves made during the off-season really put the team in a different light in terms of what could be. We feel like we upgraded at all positions with this trade and believe that we can now make a legit push to the PO's."

When asked if they have abandoned the rebuilding efforts, GM Phil Grote pointed out that the team retained some very solid prospects such as Tom Wilson, Kerdilies, Jarnkrok, Noesen, Klefbom and Murphy as well as their own 1st round pick and two 2nd rounders.

"No, the rebuild is not dead in the water, we still have some veyr promising youngsters in the system and we will continue to to add to that. The days of emptying the cupboard are over, we are now going to manage the future alot more wisely. This was a deal we had to make."
