Nathan MacKinnon in Blockbuster Draft Deal!
2026-07-11Nathan MacKinnon is no longer a Jet! After bing drafted by the Winnipeg Jets, and helping the Club with 1 MRFHL Championship, the End Has Came for Nathan as as a member of the Jets.
"MacKinnon is a player that you rarely see get moved. This was a hard choice, We drafted him and he played for 12 years for our Jets team. Huge accomplishments along the way, a championship title. We could not do it without you. We have nothing bad to say, you will always be remembered here in Winnipeg for the Great Success you had on and off the ice. We Wish you all the best. Unfortunately, its time to reshape this franchise a bit. Salary was concerning last year, as we were against the cap all season long. Its not fun being a gm when your hands are tied and can't make moves.. So we decided it was time to make a few moves to clear some salary, re tool and bring in some much needed youth and more depth on our club. "
Shock waves were sent thru the draft as the #3 pick was coming up, and all GM's were stunned by the huge blockbuster! Prior to the pick, it was announced the a Signed Nathan Mackinnon would be heading to the Panthers for a package of youth that contained the 3rd Overall Draft Pick, 2nd in 2027, Z.Parekh and G.Perreault.
With the 3rd pick the Jets took Caleb Malhorta. Who should be a great 2 way player in this league with the ceiling of a 1st line Center man, or at very least a very good 2nd line Center. Parekh gives the Jets a top ranked D prospect on there club, that is close to seeing some MRFHL action, his ceiling is very high. G.Perreautl is a young fast forward, that is expected to played in the top 6, either 1st or 2nd line. He has alot of potential as well. The Jets are very happy with the return and excited to draft.
Recently longtime Jet Colton Parayko was traded for C.Murphy and a 4th and 5th rounder.
GM Schurman has alot of picks coming in this draft, which we will recap after, but right now there has been some solid selections as we move along with the draft.
Massive trade.
