Capitals 2025-2026 Mid-Year Status

2026-01-08

The Washington Capitals Mid-Year thoughts.  We saythoughts because  the results aren't worth bragging about.  Currently the Capitals are tied for second in the Metro Division and tied for fifth in the conference, but a 4-3-3 over the last ten games.  The Capitals appear to be headed for the 'Middle' of the pack again.  Since GM Slocum has been in charge he has been unable to make an impact on the organization to get them above the 'middle' of the pack.  The only exception to this was last year's playoffs where the team played so well, they made it to the Cup Filnals.  However, now that the regular season is back we are a .500 team again, which to puy iy nicely, SUCKS!

Looking at the pro and farm rosters tere aren't amny "untouchable" players.  The players that we would like to rebuild around are few and far between, such as Mika Zibanejad, Philip Broberg, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Carter Hart.  The farm roster has some young players with unproven abilities, which are still to be determined if they belong or not.  The remaineer of the rosters are all players that we qould like to trade for picks or future prospects. So in other words the Capitals need a gut job.

GM Slocum has been making attempts to move current players, moving Andrew Copp and Kaakp Kakko.  We still need to move a lot more of our current players.  Enan Rodrigues and Brian Dumoulin as rentals, need to be the first players moved for picks.  Afterthat most of both rosters are available, bur beware we will not be giving them away.  We are looking for a fair return on these playersa.  We really want to start moving players out as soon as possible.  Waiting for tradfe deadline might get us a better return, but we would really like to start the transition sooner than later.

The Capitals are open for business and looking forward to getting our good players to secessful teams.  Also, all trade offers I receive will be answered as soon as I see them..

Go Capitals,

Wahington Capitals GM Slocum
