Panthers Prospect Update / December '25

2025-12-02

Hot:

Sebastian Cossa - AHL - 9 Games, .942 SV%

The recently named AHL Goaltender of the Month is doing everything to live up to his draft stock. He’s leading the AHL in save percentage on the powerhouse Grand Rapids Griffins and with the Red Wings goalies struggling, it feels almost inevitable that he’ll at least get an opportunity to finally start a game at the NHL level. Even with the strong team in front of him, he’s looking more calm and composed in net compared to the last few years in the AHL.

Roman Kantserov - KHL - 32 games, 21 goals and 14 assists

Roman is putting one of the best seasons we’ve seen from a KHLer his age since Kirill Kaprizov. On pace for over 40 goals and leading the KHL in goals, it’s hard not to salivate at the prospect of him being another key piece to the rebuilding Blackhawks top 6. While size is always a concern for when he takes the jump to the next level, he’s not a slight player and has proven to be a smart two-way player in Russia, so he at least has more in his toolbox to pull from if the transition hits a rough patch to start.

Gabe Perreault - AHL - 15 games, 8 goals and 6 assists (3 games and 1 point in the NHL)

Gabriel has not missed a beat since turning pro, showcasing his offensive talents quickly at the AHL level, which earned him a callup this past month. One surprising thing is that it has been his goal scoring, not his patented playmaking, that has been the biggest factor so far, which was in full effect this past weekend when he propelled the Wolfpack to a 3rd period comeback win with two goals. It shouldn’t take too long before he gets another callup if he keeps putting up those kinds of performances.

Other Notables:

Nikita Artamonov - It’s been a disappointing season for Nikita after seemingly breaking through last year with 39 points in the KHL. He was sent down to the VHL before the season started, then bounced up and down between the two leagues, receiving little to no minutes when he actually did play in the KHL. Near the end of November he was finally loaned out to a different team and his minutes have been rising in the four games since joining, resulting in 2 assists in his last two games. Hopefully this is the move that can help him salvage the rest of his season.

Dylan Hryckowian - Dylan has already put together two solid years at the NCAA level and looks to be well on his way to setting career highs in his junior season. The question will be whether he follows the same trajectory as his brother Justin, who is now a regular in the Dallas Stars lineup, and jump pro after a third season in the NCAA.

Scott Ratzlaff & Tyler Muszelik - Two somewhat similar pathed goalies in the system. Scott was saddled with becoming the starter in Seattle after their Memorial Cup exodus, which wasn’t always a pleasant assignment. He’s turned pro this past year and has taken to his spot in the ECHL very well, posting a .937 in 9 games. It was a busy depth chart in the Sabres system, but with Georgiev heading back to Russia, there might be an opportunity to get a run of games in the AHL this season if he continues this pace. Tyler Muszelik has had an interesting path since the draft. After two disappointing seasons at UNH, he split the crease at UCONN last year with Callum Tung and both competed well with each other all season. Now with Tung going pro, Tyler has taken sole possession of the net and has been excellent, with a .926 in 13 games. Now the question will be whether he’s done enough to put him back on track to earn a pro contract after this season.

Artamanov is just proof of how ridiculous attempting to evaluate prospects in the KHL is

I absolutely love these, it's like an open house... all we're missing is the For Sale sign and the listing price.
