In Soviet New York We Trust

2025-07-16

As the Islanders began their rebuild a lot of questions, red flags, town hall meetings & even public polling via phone calls were held around the Merf as some stood watched & declared "The Islanders have no plan" / "He's just tanking on purpose he has no clue what he's doing" - To which GM Jacklin simply laughed because despite the chaos he still had his hands on the wheel for what was expected to be a fun rebuild mixed with retooling as the club focused on the future while equally preparing for drafted & developed net minder Samuel Montembeault to become the starter they always knew he'd be when he was drafted all those years ago.

A future molded around the next generation of Elite Russian talents in the forms of Matvei Michkov & Ivan Demidov or as they've been nicknamed in tandem Demikov. Two of the brightest stars to escape the mother land & join the land of opportunity in Long Island in what would be a new REVOLUTION! With Demikov in place the next steps became finding the pieces to add into the club seeing GM Jacklin acquire Pavel Dorofeyev, Vasili Podkolzin ahead of the 24/25 campaign. Ensuring that once the kids came across the pond they'd have fellow peers to help them adjust to life in New York's Russian district. As the 24/25 season began the Islanders made 2 absolutely wild additions in Cale Makar & Mika "The DJ" Zibanejad who landed in blockbuster trades which Captain Quinn Hughes was quoted saying "Holy shit this Robert Jacklin guy is a mad man!" The season didn't go as plan as the Islanders fell short of the post season but everything had begun to take shape!

As we entered life after the season ended the retool continued for GM Jacklin who then turned his eyes towards the draft & preparing for what's next Suddenly Artemi Panarin had become a Soviet Islander & shortly before that comrade Elias Pettersson arrived via a trade with the Preds that similarly to Panarin left some GM's quoted as saying "What kind of dirt does Robby have on these General Managers?!?!" & "I didn't even know he was available!" Despite 1 player being openly on the market for a while. With the deeds done here's a quick look at what the line up is primed to be ahead of an exciting 25/26 MRFHL season where playoff hopes, dreams & more are in the cards for these new look franchise !

Panarin - EP40 - Podkolzin

With Free Agency on the horizon & cap room to still play with it's expected the Soviet Islanders will be still looking to tinker & potentially add on the back end to shore things up as well they seek out some more Special Teams stability to help the Penalty Kill. So expect some minor adjustments along the way & nothing but more excitement as the Islanders prepare for another push to reach the post season in the always tough Brendl Division.

So tune in, get ready & join us & as always thank you for believing In Soviet Island! Moscow Mules for all!
